The Vendor’s Playbook: Selling on BidZid.app

Welcome to the BidZid Network. Our platform is designed to give Kenyan entrepreneurs and private collectors a premium, secure environment to reach verified buyers. To maintain our reputation as a trusted marketplace, all vendors must adhere to the following standards.

1. Registration & Tax Compliance (KYC)

  • Account Setup: Select “I am a Vendor” during registration.
  • The KRA Requirement: * Registered Businesses: Must submit their Company Name and a valid KRA PIN.
    • High-Volume Private Sellers: Any individual seller exceeding KES 80,000 in monthly sales is required to provide their KRA PIN for tax compliance.
  • Verification: Your shop will remain in “Pending” status until our admin team reviews your ID/PIN. This ensures a “Bot-Free” marketplace for our buyers.

2. Listing Your Items

From your Vendor Dashboard, click “Add New Product.” You have three options:

  • Simple Product: A standard fixed-price item (e.g., a bag of coffee).
  • Variable Product: An item with different options like size or color (e.g., T-shirts in Small, Medium, Large).
  • Auction: This is the heart of BidZid. Set a Starting Price, a Bid Increment, and a Reserve Price (the minimum you are willing to accept). Auctions can run for up to 31 days.

3. Setting Up Shipping (Table Rate Shipping)

To offer accurate shipping costs, we utilize Table Rate Shipping. This allows you to charge different rates based on the buyer’s location or the weight of the item.

  • Go to Settings > Shipping.
  • Select Table Rate Shipping.
  • You can create rules such as: “Nairobi: KES 300” or “Mombasa (Heavy Item): KES 800.”
  • Refer to the Dokan Shipping Documentation for advanced configuration of weight-based tiers.

4. Returns & Warranty Policy

Transparency reduces disputes. You must define your terms in the “Terms & Conditions” tab of your store settings.

  • The BidZid Rule: You must honor a 48-hour inspection window. If a buyer provides video evidence that an item is “Not as Described,” the escrow funds will be frozen.
  • Warranty: If you offer a 6-month or 1-year warranty, clearly state who handles the logistics for repairs.

5. Processing Sales & Withdrawals

  • The Escrow Period: When an item sells, the money is held by BidZid.
  • Order Completion: Once you deliver the item, mark the order as “Completed” in your dashboard.
  • The 3-Day Rule: Funds become “Withdrawable” 3 working days after the buyer confirms receipt (or after the 48-hour inspection window lapses).
  • Withdrawal Limits: * Minimum Withdrawal Amount: KES 1,000.
    • Payment Method: Funds are transferred to your registered Bank Account or M-Pesa.
  • Commission: Remember that BidZid retains an 8% service fee on the final hammer price.

6. Pro-Tips for Top-Tier Vendors (Kishen’s Essentials)

  • The Unboxing Shield: We tell buyers they must film an unboxing video. We recommend that YOU film a “Packing Video” as you seal the box. This is your insurance policy if a buyer claims they received an empty box.
  • High-Res Imagery: Luxury items require luxury photos. Use a clean white background or professional lighting to increase your “Hammer Price.”
  • Responsiveness: Use the Store Support feature. Vendors who reply to buyer inquiries within 2 hours have a 40% higher conversion rate on auctions.
  • eTIMS Ready: Ensure your profile information is accurate. Your 8% commission invoices are generated based on the data you provide in your dashboard.
