Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I place a bid?

To place a bid, you must first create an account and be logged in. Navigate to the auction item you are interested in, enter your bid amount (must be higher than the current “Minimum Bid”), and click “Place Bid.”

  1. What is a “Reserve Price”?

Some auctions have a “Reserve Price”—this is the minimum price the seller is willing to accept. If the auction ends and the bids haven’t reached this hidden amount, the item will not be sold.

  1. Can I cancel a bid?

Bidding is a binding contract. However, if you made a clear typographical error (e.g., bidding KES 10,000 instead of KES 1,000), please contact BidZid Support at least 12 hours before the auction ends to request a retraction.

  1. How do I pay if I win?

Once the auction ends, you will receive an email notification. You can pay directly from your “My Account > Orders” page. We currently support M-Pesa and Card payments via IntaSend.

  1. What is the “Unboxing Video” requirement?

To protect you against fraud, we require all buyers to film a continuous, unedited video while opening their package. This video serves as your primary evidence if the item is damaged or not as described.

  1. How do I post an auction?

Log in to your Vendor Dashboard, go to Products > Add New Product. Under the product type dropdown, select “Auction.” You can then set your starting price, bid increments, and auction duration.

  1. When do I get paid?

To ensure buyer satisfaction, BidZid holds funds for a 3-day period after the buyer receives the item. If no dispute is raised within this window, the funds will be available for withdrawal in your vendor wallet.

  1. How do I withdraw my earnings?

Once your funds are “Available,” go to the “Withdraw” tab in your dashboard. You can request a payout via M-Pesa or Bank Transfer. Requests are typically processed within 24 hours.

  1. What are the fees for selling?

BidZid charges a flat 8% commission on the final sale price of successful auctions. There are no listing fees for standard vendors.

  1. What happens if a winner doesn’t pay?

If a winner fails to pay within 48 hours, the auction is considered “Failed.” You can choose to relist the item or offer it to the second-highest bidder. Non-paying bidders are subject to permanent account suspension.

  1. Can I return an item if I change my mind?

In an auction environment, “Buyer’s Remorse” returns are generally not accepted. Returns are only processed if the item is proven to be misrepresented or arrived damaged (verified by your unboxing video).

  1. How do I open a dispute?

If there is an issue with your order, click the “Contact Seller” button on your order page. If the seller does not resolve the issue within 3 days, you may “Escalate to BidZid” for a formal review.
